Ahead of a light session at Cottesloe Beach on Friday, the Fremantle playing group got together to revisit a positive recent memory of playing at Adelaide Oval.

Freo ended a string of losses at the ground in round five with an away win against an in-form Adelaide.

Defender Nathan Wilson said the players were pleased with how they adapted to the ground and were ready for another 'hostile' reception when taking on Port Adelaide on Sunday.

“We just saw some vision then that we defended Adelaide Oval pretty well last time we played Adelaide,” Wilson said.

“The boys go over there confident knowing that we got a win there last time.

“It’s going to be a hostile crowd obviously. We’ve got to feed off that, we’ve got to bring the energy. It’s going to be a massive challenge. Their best footy is very good.”

While losing star key forward Matt Taberner to an ankle injury is an obvious blow, Wilson said the team was confident they could cover his absence.

“It's a good time for Treacy to stand up. I thought his second half last week was outstanding, some of his contest work,” he said.

“The smalls have been getting to work as well. (Sam) Switkowski, (Lachie) Schultz, (Mitch) Crowden last week I thought was great with his pressure.

"Hopefully, the tackle pressure is there and then a few goals on the end would be nice.”

Wilson said it was important to restrict the Power's ball movement.

“We’ve got to slow them down. If we kick it in shallow in our forward 50, they just explode off that,” he said.

“We’ve got to try and slow their ball movement down and hold them up so their smalls don’t beat us out the back.”
