It wont only be Matthew Pavlich’s parents who will be flying across the country to be there for Pav in his 300th game on Saturday night.

Josh Grant is travelling from Newcastle in New South Wales to make it for Pavlich’s milestone game after winning our #ThereForPav competition.

After finding out late yesterday afternoon that he had won the opportunity to watch the team warm up in the Fremantle change rooms prior to the game against Geelong, Josh rushed home to book his flight.

“I didn’t think twice about it,” Josh said.

“I’ll drive two and a half hours to Sydney today, catch a bus to the train station, get a train to the airport, get on a plane, then hopefully dad will be at the other end to pick me up from Perth airport.”

Josh, a youth worker who moved interstate two years ago, said Pavlich had played a part in keeping his relationship with his father.

“Dad and I have probably seen each other for a total of eight days over the past two years,” Josh said.

“One of those times was at the Grand Final last year.”

“Since I have moved away we haven’t really had a lot to talk about, but we would always call each other up and chat about the game and ‘Pav’s’ form.

“He’s helped dad and I have a better relationship during tougher times.”

So when Josh found out he had won, he knew exactly who he wanted to share this experience with.

“I called dad straight away, it had to be him who was going to come along with me” he said.

“It’s a massive experience to be down in the change rooms and see the warm up and the leadership. It’s something you don’t experience every day.

“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
