It’s hard to find new superlatives to describe Nat Fyfe as a player, but Griffin Logue did his best in the aftermath of Fremantle’s two-point win against Sydney at Optus Stadium on Saturday.

Just under half of Fyfe’s disposals were clearances with 13 from his 27 disposals.

He also had 19 contested possessions, five tackles and kicked the as the game-winning goal.

Twenty of Fyfe’s disposals were effective, running at an efficiency of 74.1 per cent which is impressive for a midfielder.

Logue said, as a teammate, he could only watch the 92kg midfielder beast in awe.

“He’s just a freak to be honest,” Logue said.

“To have so many people hanging off him - and they’re not small people as well. Josh Kennedy’s a monster, Luke Parker is a big guy - he just throws and swats them away as if they’re nothing.

“His ability to hold onto the ball, test the tackle and find a free man is second to none and that’s why he’s arguably the greatest player in the comp.

“It’s just a privilege to play alongside him.”

Logue said it was extra special to see Fyfe kick the game-winner.

“It’s about time he kicked one and just reward for effort to be honest,” Logue said.

“He could come out and kick 10 each week if he really wanted to. It’s just great to see him and he deserves it.”

After a disappointing finish against Essendon, Fremantle were able to hold off Sydney in the dying moments.

Logue said the home crowd played a big part in Fremantle getting the result.

“It’s so cliched but we build so much energy and momentum off them,” Logue said.

“If something good happens you can feel the crowd and at some stage I ran to the sidelines and asked how much time was left and they told me it was 40 seconds.

“They helped so much and having the home crowd there gets us up, everyone is up and about and it really turns (Optus Stadium) into a fortress.”
