Each day we bring you the wrap of the day’s trades from around the league.
After securing the services of Cam McCarthy and Bradley Hill, Fremantle was once again involved in the trade period by striking a deal for Bulldogs’ premiership defender Joel Hamling.
Fremantle will also receive pick 40 (2nd round) and 63 (4th round) in exchange for picks 35 (2nd round), 43 (3rd round) and 61 (4th round) in the 2016 NAB AFL Draft.
Alongside McCarthy and Hill, Hamling becomes the third WA-based player to return home to continue their careers at Fremantle.
Geelong’s Shane Kersten, also from Western Australia, has advised the Cats of his intentions to return home by requesting a trade to Fremantle.
Around the league, four-time Hawthorn premiership midfielder Jordan Lewis was granted his request to be traded to Melbourne.
Melbourne will also receive pick 57 (3rd round) and 68 (4th round) in exchange for pick 48 (third round) and pick 66 (fourth round).
The remaining deal of the day saw Gold Coast, Brisbane and Port Adelaide take part in a three-way trade that sees Pearce Hanley head to the Gold Coast from Q-Clash rivals Brisbane.
On top of Hanley, who played 129 games for Brisbane, the Suns will receive pick 67 (4th round) from Port Adelaide in exchange for two second round draft picks – one each heading to Brisbane (pick 22) and Port Adelaide (pick 30).
To help facilitate the deal, Port Adelaide and Brisbane traded first round draft picks, with Port Adelaide taking pick 19 of this year’s draft while Brisbane will receive a future first round pick from the Power in 2017.
With two days remaining in the trade period, Fremantle currently has picks 7 (1st round), 40 (2nd round), 63 (4th round) and 73 (4th round) in the National Draft.
