Loss doesn't reflect ability: Fyfe
Fremantle have gone down to reigning premiers Richmond by 77 points at the MCG.
The Tigers were dominant for most of the day, having the first six scoring shots of the opening quarter before Fremantle registered a score in the 15.20 (110) to 4.9 (33) match.
Fremantle’s most positive signs came in the third quarter when they kept the Tigers goalless and kicked three goals.
With five players that have never played a game at the MCG before, Fremantle were outplayed by a classy Tigers outfit.
"We came with here with high expectations, but we didn't use the ball how we wanted," Fremantle coach Ross Lyon said.
"We didn't play how we wanted to play and they took full advantage of that."
Nat Fyfe was dominant around the ground collecting 31 disposals, 24 of those contested. The captain was also strong in the air taking six contested marks and wining seven hit-outs.
Freo's first year players continue to learn and develop with Bailey Banfield gathering 20 posessions and contributing strongly in the defeat.
