Fremantle remain hopeful that their seated members will be able to attend 11 home games in 2021 should the Covid-19 pandemic remain under control in Australia.
Executive general manager of football Peter Bell gave an update on 6PR on Thursday about what Fremantle’s full season members can expect in 2021.
“I know the clubs are in constant dialogue with all relevant stakeholders, and what I understand is that with that 35,000-36,000 cap (at Optus Stadium), we’re really confident we’ll be able to cater for all our seated members,” Bell told 6PR.
Bell said that members would likely need to be spread throughout Optus Stadium to ensure the game meets the WA Government’s social distancing guidelines.
“There might have to be a bit of shuffling, is what I understand just because the parameters that have been put before us and other football clubs as well,” Bell said.
“If there is a little bit of shuffling you’ll be put into a seat or an area as close to what you’re accustomed to as possible.”

Bell said he had been pleased to see the playing group push through what has been an especially demanding pre-season.
“The season went on late last year, a lot of our senior players didn’t return until the new year, so around January 6th or 7th, which means there’s a short runway through to the first pre-season games,” Bell said.
“If you combine that with the fact games are going the full-length with time and reduced rotations, it means all clubs have put a lot of work into their players in a reduced preseason period, that’s provided some challenges.
“It’s been a full-on pre-season and we pushed the guys really hard to make sure we’re protecting them and giving them durability through the season as best we can but you’ve also seen throughout the AFL there seems to be quite a lot of injuries as well.”
