The 2020 Doig Medal Presentation Dinner will be held on Thursday 22 October, streamed live from the Grand Ballroom at Crown Perth.

Luke Ryan – Season summary
Already one of the game’s best intercepting and rebound defenders, Luke Ryan took his game to another level as Freo’s backline looked vulnerable with tall defenders Alex Pearce, Joel Hamling and Griffin Logue missing all or most of the season.
Standing at 186 cm and often giving up 20kg and 20cm to his opponents, Ryan took on the key defender role and won more than his fair share of the individual battles.
His ability as an intercepting and rebounding defender still shone through as he led Fremantle for intercept marks, metres gained and led the AFL with 113 rebound 50s – 17 more than any other player in the league.
He is looking to become the first defender since Dale Kickett (1997) to win a Doig Medal.

Best game
Luke Ryan won the Goodes-O’Loughlin Medal as the best on ground against Sydney in round 13 as Freo’s backline held the Swans to 19 points Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
Ryan dominated the stats sheet with 26 disposals, five marks, 416 metres gained, 12 intercepts and seven spoils.
