Whilst the focus on Saturday’s game will be on the Anzac Day commemorations, come bouncedown, both sides will leave all hostilities aside to undertake an epic battle for the Redkite Cup.

Both clubs have a close association with the charity, so on Saturday night the teams will once again do battle for bragging rights and for the coveted Redkite Cup.

The Redkite Cup will be presented to the winning team by a Redkite family in the changerooms after the match on Saturday.

Ryan Crowley and Michael Johnson are both ambassadors for Redkite and will be on hand to accept the cup should Fremantle take the four points on Saturday against the Swans.

The club works closely with Redkite to improve the lives of children with cancer and their families by regularly visiting the oncology ward at Princess Margaret Hospital and participating in Redkite Family Days.

Redkite is an Australian charity that works to ease the pressure and to alleviate distress by providing emotional support, financial assistance and educational services to children, young people and their families throughout the difficult treatment period and beyond.

Fremantle and the Swans first battled it out for the Redkite Cup last year after it was commissioned especially to celebrate Redkite’s 25-year anniversary. The Swans currently hold the Cup after winning the inaugural match last season in what was a very close finish at the SCG.

Over the last two seasons Redkite has been one of Fremantle’s two aligned charities alongside the Heart Foundation of WA.

Redkite receives no government funding and relies entirely on the generosity of the community to provide these important services – for more details visit www.redkite.org.au.
