Fremantle will have four very special fans involved in Saturday’s Starlight Purple Haze Game.
Rohan, Harrison, Sapphire and Milli have been selected as the 2020 Starlight Stars to cheer on the players, who will proudly wear Starlight Purple Haze guernseys in honour of these four special kids.
It was Rohan’s Starlight wish to travel from his home town of Terrigal in New South Wales, to Perth to be at Optus Stadium to cheer on his favourite team.
Unfortunately due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, Rohan’s wish couldn’t come true this year, but instead the club has bought the game to him.
Eight-year-old Rohan will be watching from his loungeroom and be hooked into the big screen at Optus Stadium via a Zoom call, so he can cheer along with the rest of the Purple Army.
Travel restrictions also dashed six-year-old Harrison’s wish to travel to Melbourne this year to visit the Rhinos at Melbourne Zoo and watch a Fremantle Dockers game at the MCG.
The avid Freo fan will also be watching on from home tomorrow with his family and cheering on his favourite player, Nat Fyfe, from the big screen.
Ten-year-old Sapphire will be at tomorrow’s game with her mum, proudly wearing her brand new Freo Dockers guernsey sporting the #8 on the back. There’s no doubt Sapphire will be cheering extra loud for her favourite player, and Starlight ambassador Andy Brayshaw.
Milli Lucas, a special friend of the Purple Army and in particular our captain Nat Fyfe, will also be at Saturday’s game. The brave young Perth girl is a huge Fremantle fan, and is so excited to be at Optus Stadium to watch ‘Fyfey’ run out with the team.
Due to Covid-19, this year’s special Starlight kids haven’t been able to meet the players in person, but that didn’t stop the players giving up their time to bring a smile to these brave young kids’ faces.
On Thursday afternoon the club’s Starlight ambassadors, Michael Walters, Andrew Brayshaw, Liam Henry, Griffin Logue and Bailey Banfield made Zoom calls to Rohan, Harrison and Sapphire.
The players purchased gifts for the kids and asked them to practice their goal celebrations for Saturday’s game.
Saturday’s Starlight Purple Haze Game raises funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions fans will not be able to donate to Starlight volunteers at Saturday’s game. The best way for fans to show their support is by register a Purple Haze Fan Pledge
