Luke Ryan has secured his second perfect score for the season in the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year award, after polling 10 coaches’ votes in Fremantle’s 31-point win over Sydney on Saturday.

Six Fremantle players were awarded votes on the night to sweep the voting in the convincing victory. 

Ryan, who was awarded the Goodes-O’Loughlin Medal for his best on ground performance, finished his night with 26 disposals, five marks, 416 metres gained and a game-high 12 intercepts.

David Mundy continued to impress in his 17th season polling eight votes, with the veteran gathering 22 disposals, three clearances and a goal to top off what was a dominant contested display against the Swans.

Andrew Brayshaw moved into 13th spot on the leader board for coaches’ votes this year, with his six votes bringing him to a total of 34 votes for season 2020. The 20-year-old had an equal team-high 26-disposals, four clearances and laid seven tackles for the night.

Brennan Cox was once again impactful in defence for Freo with his 12 disposals at 91.7 per cent efficiency, six marks and seven intercepts. Following his strong performance, the emerging defender earnt high praise from senior coach Justin Longmuir post-match.

“I think the last three or four weeks he has been really strong, he’s been building”, Longmuir said.

I thought tonight he played on a good player and played really well. He’s strong in the contest and shows really good composure with the ball and is able to make really good decisions.”
