Surgery for Barlow
Fremantle midfielder Michael Barlow will miss the rest of the season after breaking his leg in yesterday’s win against Port Adelaide at Subiaco Oval.
The 22-year-old underwent surgery earlier today at St John of God Hospital after being transferred overnight from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
General manager of football operations Chris Bond said today that the club’s medical advice was that Barlow had broken both the fibula and tibia bones in his left leg.
“It is a very disappointing way for Michael to end what has been an outstanding debut season,” Bond said.
“But we are confident that with the appropriate recovery period and rehabilitation program Michael will be back playing football in 2011.
“In the meantime, the club will be doing everything possible to support Michael and his family.”
