Pavlich Impresses Fans Early
Club Captain Matthew Pavlich continues to impress Fremantle supporters, with last week’s fremantlefc.com.au poll seeing Pav collect 38 per cent of the votes
The 2006 Doig Medallist’s strong start to the season saw him win clear by 11 per cent over ruckman Aaron Sandilands who finished second with 27 per cent.
Pavlich, 25, has amassed 49 disposals, 27 marks and 11 goals so far this season playing in the forward line and across the centre.
Sandilands has continued his rise to becoming one of the competition’s most influential ruckmen. The 211cm big man currently leads the league in hit outs (90). He has also proved to be a dangerous proposition when moved into the forward line.
Pav’s partner in the forward 50, Chris Tarrant, polled well with 19 per cent of the vote, while midfielder Andrew Browne ended with 16 per cent.
Meanwhile, utility David Mundy was named as a round three nominee for the 2007 Toyota AFL Goal of the Year. Mundy’s major came late in the third term after he marked on the wing, combined with Paul Hasleby to get around an opponent before scoring from wide on the 50m arc.
