Byron Schammer will fight a striking charge at the AFL Tribunal in a bid to take on Hawthorn at Subiaco on Friday night.

Schammer is facing a one-match ban for striking Carlton’s Marc Murphy during Fremantle’s win against the Blues at Gold Coast Stadium on Saturday night.

The midfielder has nothing to lose by taking his case to the AFL Tribunal tonight.

His level two striking offence drew 125 demerit points from the match review panel.

However, the 23-year-old also has 70.31 carry-over points from the past 12 months,  increasing the penalty to 195.31 points.

Schammer could not reduce the ban to below one game with an early guilty plea, nor will his suspension increase should he be found guilty at tonight’s hearing.
