Fifty Fyfe
Nat Fyfe plays AFL game 50 in Friday’s Semi Final
Led by Patrick Dangerfield, the Crows have won 42 more contested possessions and 38 more clearances in 29 and 28-points wins over Freo.
Fyfe didn’t play in either game, but he’s been just as hurt watching the losses as any member of the 22 that played.
On Friday night, he will play against Adelaide, as will Aaron Sandilands, who also missed out in round 20.
The stoppages pendulum has swung back towards Fremantle.
“That will give us a bit of extra confidence for sure,” Fyfe said.
“The guys that did play in round 20 did their role and did quite well, but it’s definitely good for the midfield group, in particular with Aaron and myself playing a number of games together over the last couple of weeks and building some form.
“We will be looking forward to going out there and rectifying what happened last time with the clearances.”
Friday night’s match will be the Freo sensation’s 50th game since he debuted in 2010, but his mind is well and truly focused on the team effort, not individual milestones.
“It’s a good little achievement. If you had told me I was playing 50 games in three seasons when I first started I would have taken that any day,” he said.
“But it’s overshadowed well and truly by the occasion this week in the Semi Final.”
Following the ankle injury sustained in his hotel room that prevented him from playing the Crows last time, the 20-year-old is making sure nothing stops him from lining up at AAMI Stadium on Friday night.
“I’m strapped up at the moment and I think I’ll leave that on until I play.”
