FREMANTLE coach Mark Harvey is hoping the dominance his side showed in three of the four quarters against Melbourne will continue against Port Adelaide at AAMI Stadium on Sunday.
After trailing by 34 points early in the second quarter at Subiaco Oval, Fremantle kicked 16 of the next 20 goals to beat Melbourne by 46 points.
It's a doggedness Harvey hopes the players will take into the clash with the Power, a side buoyed in turn by a gritty win over cross-town rival Adelaide.
"You get confidence from it throughout the week and some sort of momentum can come from that," Harvey said on Wednesday.
"But just to see the side react under those circumstances, to dig themselves out of that situation, is pleasing.
"It's all about what we want to do, how we want to play and getting a win on the road though. Last time we played Port Adelaide in round 10, we were right in the game until three-quarter time before getting overrun in the last quarter.
"So we will go back and revisit that more than what happens to them after a Showdown (against Adelaide)."
Harvey experimented with players in different roles against the Demons, and is likely to persist with key position player Luke McPharlin in attack.
That means Michael Johnson, Scott Thornton, Josh Head, Steven Dodd and Antoni Grover will need to cover his absence.
"I'm keen to pursue the McPharlin one and he can be a dangerous weapon if he works in with (Matthew) Pavlich and (Chris) Tarrant," he said.
"I don’t think we've held on to that for long enough looking back. When we put him down there he gets shots on goal in quick periods of time. He had eight on the weekend and that's significant, so I'm starting to warm to him as a forward as long as we can be stable down back."
Utility Luke Webster will return to the WAFL after missing last weekend with some soreness in his recently reconstructed knee, having undertaken an operation similar to that of Swan Nick Malceski.
Des Headland will also return from a knee injury to line up for Subiaco.
"He (Webster) will play this week," Harvey confirmed. "We just have to monitor how guys go after games as they come back from these types of operations.
"It's still a trial operation really and we have to ease him through it.
"Des will play this week, barring some soreness from training. If he pulls up OK he will play with Subiaco and we will monitor him from there.
"He would have to play a couple there before we consider him."
