NAB Cup Player Profile - Jesse Crichton
Jesse Crichton showed in last Saturday’s trial match that he could be ready to finally grasp his chance at regular AFL action
The 21-year-old Tasmanian was delisted at the end of the 2012 season, but he was given a reprieve when the club picked him up again in the Pre-season Draft.
Crichton had 19 disposals playing in defence.
An AIS AFL Academy graduate, Crichton has put on significant weight since arriving at the club in 2009.
Senior coach Ross Lyon spoke about players grasping the opportunities that present themselves following the trial match.
"At some point people realise they have to get a move on and invest in themselves," Lyon said.
"Clearly Clancee (Pearce) did that last year, and Ryan Crowley did that.
"Jesse Crichton and Nick Suban are in a similar vein.
"It gives you an opportunity to get picked and then you need to perform. That's where Jesse and Nick sit at this point."
Crichton knows this season will be a massive one for him, so look for another big effort against Carlton in Saturday’s NAB Cup.
