It’s unlikely that Richmond can make the finals this season, but Jake King says the Tigers are viewing the last three rounds as an opportunity to challenge themselves against sides close to them on the ladder.

Richmond are currently 12th, two games out of the top eight and face ninth-placed Fremantle at Patersons Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

King told Richmondfc.com.au that, with their finals destiny out of their own hands, the Tigers would be trying to create as much havoc for other teams battling to play in September.

“It’s a good opportunity to beat these sides who are in the same spot as what we are,” he said.

“If that means we beat those guys and they lose their opportunity to play finals, then we’re doing something right, too.”

King said Richmond were looking forward to taking Freo on after losing to Ross Lyon’s men at the MCG in wet conditions back in round 11.

“We get the opportunity to play them over there on their big stage and, hopefully, we get the four points this time,” he said.

“It’s not revenge, it’s just that you want to make amends . . . you want to do the right thing by the fans and by Damien (Hardwick) and everyone else at the club.

“What better way than finish off strongly and beat Freo over there because they’re going to be a tough side and to get a win over there would actually be a big boost for all the playing group.

“It’s a big ground and we’ve got a lot of leg speed in our side, so, hopefully, it works in our favour.”
