Fremantle supporters have once again dug deep for the Salvo’s with the annual rattle raising a record $17,135.75 at the Alinta Red Shield Appeal Match Day yesterday.

The partnership between the Fremantle Football Club and Alinta has helped support The Salvation Army over the past five seasons through the annual Alinta Red Shield Appeal Match Day raise much needed funds for the Salvos and the result in 2007 is no exception.

Since the Alinta Red Shield Appeal Match Day became a part of Fremantle’s fixture in 2002, the generosity of the supporters has seen more than $60,000 raised, a fantastic result for a great cause.

"Once again it is a great result and the generosity is remarkable. Everyone involved should feel humbled to know that all the money raised at the match will go towards many of the vital services we provide to the community on a daily basis," said The Salvation Army’s Divisional Public Relations Secretary, Warren Palmer.

"Every 20 seconds someone is helped by The Salvation Army in Australia,” he said. “Our services such as our family Support, homeless shelters, drug and alcohol rehabilitation and women’s refuges, to name a few, play a vital role in supporting the least, the lost and the last in our community."

Alinta is proud supporter of The Salvation Army and also contributes to the Salvos Community Support Services to help support local families in need.

"Over the last five years, Alinta has been humbled to be involved with The Salvation Army and have been pleased to support the Red Shield Appeal which has a marked effect on many people’s lives in Western Australia," said Alinta Executive General Manager Energy Investments Ian Devenish.

“A huge thank you must go to all the volunteers for their time to do the collection and also to the members and supporters for their continued generosity.”
