Inaugural club captain Ben Allan will tonight become the first Fremantle Docker to be inducted into the West Australian Football Hall of Fame.

A brilliant midfielder with outstanding disposal skills by hand and foot, Allan’s honours during his three WAFL and seven AFL seasons included two premierships at Claremont (1987 & 89) and one at Hawthorn in 1991 - a year he also won the best and fairest at the Hawks.

He was named in the AFL All Australian team in 1993 and 1994.

Allan said it was an incredible honour to be inducted into the WA Football Hall of Fame.

“It’s funny receiving an individual award in a team game, especially when it’s 15 years after you stopped playing, but I understand the history of WA footy and to join the list of guys that are in the Hall of Fame is a great honour,” he said.

Allan ranked his induction “right up there” among the accomplishments in his career.

“Being the first captain of Fremantle and playing in an AFL Premiership at Hawthorn was something I’m immensely proud of, but this probably sits over the top of both of them.”

The West Australian Football Commission established the WA Football Hall of Fame in 2002 to honour players, coaches, umpires, administrators and media representatives who have made a significant contribution to the game in this State.

Since the WA Football Hall of Fame's inauguration, 141 individuals across four eras have been inducted into the West Australian Football Hall of Fame and 14 have been elevated to the status of WA football Legend.
