On the eve of the club’s return to playing football at Optus Stadium, the Fremantle Dockers are recognising Freo’s co-major partners Woodside and Programmed for their strong, ongoing support.
In an unprecedented time for Fremantle, the AFL and the wider community, the commitment and dedication from Woodside and Programmed have been particularly felt throughout the recent COVID-19 period.
Currently in their 11th and 12th seasons respectively as co-major partners, Woodside and Programmed’s partnership extends over both Freo’s men’s and women’s team.
Fremantle CEO Simon Garlick believed it was an important time to acknowledge their support in what has been “one of the most challenging periods in the club’s history.”
“The season thus far has been like no other before it and has presented obstacles and uncertainty in all of our industries,” Garlick said.
“As the CEO of the club the support of our long-term partners and specifically our co-majors has been remarkable.
“We can’t wait to see what the future holds for our partnerships and we look forward to working together into the future.
“From our members, board, coaches and players, administration, and everyone at Freo…thank you.”
Currently in their 11th year as a co-major partner of Fremantle, Woodside also double as the club’s proud Indigenous Program partner.
Their partnership extends to working with the club on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander initiatives like Freo’s Sir Doug Nicholls and AFLW Indigenous rounds, WA Clontarf academies and the Woodside Cup.
Woodside CEO Peter Coleman said the Fremantle Dockers, like Woodside, are proud West Australians.
“We’re proud of our long-standing partnership with the club,” Coleman said.
“Throughout which time, we have supported the Dockers to implement their first Reconciliation Action Plan and kick off the first AFLW team.
“In 2020, we’ve helped champion them through a year that footy, and the world, could not have foreseen.
“We wish the team the best of luck for this weekend’s RAC Derby. Go the Dockers!”
Currently in their 12th year as a co-major partner of Fremantle, Programmed have also been a corporate supporter of the club since its inception.
Programmed are also the presenting partner of Freo’s annual International Women’s Day Luncheon and join Woodside as proud supporters of Freo’s AFLW team.
Programmed Group CEO Glenn Thompson said that the need to stand by partnerships during a challenging time like this was more critical than ever.
“We at Programmed are guided by simply ‘doing the right thing’,” Thompson said.
“Whilst commercially we recognise that we will not receive the usual benefits of our sponsorship this year, we never considered pulling back our support.
“We love the Dockers and what the club stands for. We are proud to have supported the club in its time of need.”
