Playing for Peel, 18-year-old Moller was opposed to former AFL ruckman Paul Johnson in the Thunder's 12-point loss to the Royals on Saturday, 23 March.
With fellow Freo Docker Jack Hannath listed as an emergency at AFL level, Moller was given the opportunity to lead the ruck.
The 204cm youngster had 18 disposals, 13 hitouts and kicked a goal and was listed as Peel's best in the paper. But, despite the strong showing, he believed he still had plenty to work on.
Moller rated his experienced East Perth opponent, Johnson, as the game's most influential player, but he felt he learnt a lot from taking on a man with 70 AFL games under his belt.
"He is known as one of the best players in the WAFL," Moller said.
"The first thing is his size, he's well over 100kg. He's a big body to try and get around and try and move.
"He also knew where to put himself around the ground and at stoppages to be a dangerous player."
Moller, who joined Freo via a NSW scholarship program, felt his recent form showed he had stepped up in a number of areas that he had been working on with his Freo coaches.
"I thought my second and third efforts following the ruck contests have improved, and I've attacked the ball with better intensity," he said.
Moller's development coach at Freo, Steve Grace, said the ruckman's recent performance was very pleasing.
"His ruck craft is really improving and he displayed that against East Perth, holding his own against Paul Johnson, who had about 30kg on him" Grace said.
"Craig's ground play and his follow ups after the ruck contests were exceptional.
"He's had 18 possessions and amongst those were about nine ground balls where he generated play.
"He had six clearances, too, which was the most for Peel on the day."
"He's shown that he's got a thirst for competitive football and, in terms of showing growth, he's certainly done that."
Moller's Peel went down to East Fremantle at Rushton Park last Friday, in a game featuring 16 Fremantle Dockers' listed players.
The young ruckman wasn't given as many opportunities because his Freo teammates Zac Clarke and Hannath were in the Thunder team.
However, Moller will look to continue developing and take any opportunities when they present, just as he did against East Perth.
