Alex Silvagni is clear to play against Adelaide this Saturday after the match day report against him for engaging in rough conduct against Melbourne’s Nathan Jones was thrown out by the AFL’s Match Review Panel.

The panel said Jones had won the ball after a centre bounce and was immediately tackled by  David Mundy. Silvagni was coming from the opposite direction towards the contest as Jones was attempting to break Mundy’s tackle, and the Fremantle player made high contact as he also tried to tackle the Melbourne player.

After speaking to the umpire who laid the report and viewing all available footage, it was the view of the panel that Silvagni’s action was a legitimate attempt to tackle and the subsequent high contact was accidental.
