Michael Barlow says Fremantle has valued the efforts of small forwards Michael Walters and Hayden Ballantyne highly this season, particularly in the absence of Matthew Pavlich.

Walters has kicked 15 goals in six matches this season at an average of 2.5 per game.

Ballantyne, whose pressure and desperation is second to none, has booted seven majors.

Barlow jokingly referred to the pair as the “two little ninjas" on the forward line in a Tuesday media conference.

"’Ballz’ (Ballantyne) and ‘Son Son’ (Walters) working together is a fantastic combination," Barlow said.

"I think the forward line throws up something different at the opposition when Pav's not there at the moment."

Freo will hope the pair can fire against Collingwood at Patersons Stadium on Saturday night.

Essendon's small forwards David Zaharakis, Jason Winderlich, and Alwyn Davey kicked nine goals between them against Collingwood in the Bombers' win on Anzac Day.

"The diversity of our forward line is a real strength for us," Barlow said.

"Hopefully ‘Son Son’ can back it up this weekend, or if not, ‘Ballaz’ pops up."
