Fremantle sports science manager Jason Weber details the latest injury news with this week’s HBF Health Centre Injury Update.

Weber said Aaron Sandilands, who missed last Sunday’s loss to Richmond through illness, had recovered well.

“He got hit by a pretty savage flu late in the week and was unavailable, but he’s been up and running on Tuesday, and he’ll be available later in the week for the selection committee (to consider),” he said.

Weber was also confident Hayden Ballantyne would recover from his hamstring injury in time for next week’s trip to play Carlton at Etihad Stadium.

“Hayden’s doing really well and there should be no challenges leading into next week,” he said.

Nick Suban was a late withdrawal with a corked calf from the round 16 Carlton Mid Derby and also missed the MCG game against the Tigers.

“‘Subes’ has ticked off all the boxes, so he’s due to train on Thursday this week and be available for selection,” Weber said.

Second-year player Hayden Crozier has not played since round 14.

“He’s had a few weeks dealing with some groin issues, but he’ll be a test this week,” Weber said.

The sports science manager was also pleased with the progress of injured All Australian defender Luke McPharlin, who hurt his calf against West Coast.

“Luke’s had a slow start, it was a fairly reasonable tear, but he’s got up and running,” Weber said.

“He’s had his second run and he’s on target.”
