Mackenzie's dream comes true
When Mackenzie Dale wrote a letter to Chris Mayne she had no idea that all of her dreams would come true in one short week
Fremantle members Jared Dale and Lisa Weall didn’t think twice about registering for Grand Final tickets in the priority 2 ballot.
They sat in the stands with Jared’s five year-old daughter Mackenzie and cheered as the team defeated Sydney at Patersons Stadium.
The good news kept coming when soon after the game they found out they were successful and had three tickets to see Freo in their first Grand Final appearance.
They quickly organised accommodation but when it came to the flights they weren’t able to secure anything.
Mackenzie had a great idea… to write a letter to her favourite player Chris Mayne.
Mackenzie’s dad Jared posted the picture online and the hashtag #kenziesdream was born.
The hashtag currently has a stream of posts and comments on Twitter and Facebook with fans offering up support and even money to go towards getting Mackenzie to the Grand Final to watch her team.
“We can’t believe the amount of support we’ve received from complete strangers, everyone has been so great,” said Jared.
When Corporate Sports Australia heard about the family’s wish to get Mackenzie to the Grand Final, they decided to step in.
Jared, Lisa and Mackenzie were invited down to Freo HQ on Wednesday afternoon and told the good news that they would be placed on one of Corporate Sports Australia’s charter flights to Melbourne.
With tears in dad Jared’s eyes, Corporate Sports Australia had made #kenziesdream come true… and it didn’t stop there.
Mackenzie was then presented with a #23 Freo jumper and asked to run out with the team onto the MCG on Saturday as the ‘Docker for a Day’.
Thanks to Corporate Sports Australia, this little girl’s dream has officially come true.
In the word’s of five-year-old Mackenzie Dale “GO FREO”.
