Live the Dream, which is proudly supported by Decmil is a once in a lifetime opportunity for 16 young Australians to become immersed in the culture of the Fremantle Dockers Football Club and ‘live the life’ of an AFL player for five days.

Live the Dream offers participants a rare opportunity to develop skills and behaviours, which can deliver long-term benefits to the individual and their local community.

The program will include a tour of Fremantle headquarters and Patersons Stadium, an boot camp session at the Irwin Army Barracks located in Karrakatta as well as leadership and health and well being training sessions.

The Live the Dream program commences on Friday 11 July with Fremantle players Paul Duffield, Tommy Sheridan, Hayden Crozier, Stephen Hill, Chris Mayne, Nick Suban, Zac Clarke and Colin Sylvia as the participant’s mentors.

Meet 16-year-old Claudia Rowell from Gelorup in WA’s South West.

She competes in athletics and plays women’s AFL, for which she has made the State under 16s squad.

Claudia’s goal is to become a sports physiologist for an elite organisation like the Fremantle Dockers.

She believed the Live the Dream program would give her a great head start in pursuing her dream.

“It will give me an outlook of what is involved in such an exciting job,” she said.

“I believe I could also benefit from this by developing my leadership skills that I can pass on to others in my community.”

Most importantly, she wanted to ensure she was a valuable team member during the Live the Dream program.

“I believe good team members have the ability to treat everyone with equal respect and support at all times,” she said.

Lee Taylor is Claudia’s physical education teacher at Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School.

He said Claudia was an accomplished student who always participated in all activities to the best of her ability.

“Whether it’s on the sporting field or in the classroom, Claudia has always represented herself and the school exceptionally well," he said.

"Her leadership skills are evident in the application she shows towards her studies and the dedication that she displays in her sporting commitments,” Taylor said.
