Fremantle has rewarded strong WAFL form, with young forwards Hayden Crozier and Max Duffy named to play against Geelong at Simonds Stadium on Saturday night.

Coming out of the team that beat Carlton were Tendai Mzungu (hamstring) and defender Garrick Ibbotson (back).

The emergencies for the game are Matt Taberner, Alex Silvagni and Michael Walters.

Duffy, 21, will make his AFL debut after an injury-interrupted two years that included four hamstring injuries in 2013 and a dislocated shoulder at the start of this season.

Freo general manager of football operations Chris Bond said the speedy small forward has been impressive in his first four weeks since returning from the shoulder injury.

“He has played four weeks at Peel and we were able to get down and have a look at a couple of those games,” he said.

“We have been able to see his work rate and the way he has gone about it and he has really earned hisspot.”

Bond said Crozier’s past two weeks have been ‘outstanding’.

“He has had great form, him and Tom Sheridan,” Bond said.

“Unfortunately, Tom has a little bit of an injury but Hayden has been able to work his way into the team after some great form.”

Bond said it was very pleasing for Fremantle to see a number of players pushing hard at WAFL level to earn an AFL game.

“It’s what the feeder club is about,” he said.

“It’s about playing the style of footy and playing in the way that we need them to play but also being a competitive team.

“They had a really good victory last week and their form was really strong as well, so they are feeling good about themselves and they deserve their opportunities.”
