The six-time Doig Medallist took over the reins from Peter Bell in 2007 and is now unquestionably the greatest player in the club’s 20-year history.
Already the record holder for games as captain, career games and goals kicked at Freo, Pavlich will chalk up the 150 games as captain milestone against Sydney at the SCG on Saturday.
He said leading the team had its challenges over the past eight seasons, but it was a job he welcomed.
“Certainly, maintaining a high level of performance, holding my teammates accountable, modelling the right behaviours and influencing guys to improve has always been a strong part of leadership and my captaincy,” Pavlich said.
“I think I’ve really developed and grown into it over the years.”
Pavlich said he’d never been big on milestones, but he admitted the recent ones reminded him how long he’d been in the game and of his longevity.
“To represent the football club as captain 150 times and run out as the team leader is something that I hold really closely and never take for granted,” he said.
If he does not miss a game up to round 8, Pavlich is due to play his 300th career game at Patersons Stadium against Geelong in round 9.
