Contract extension a 'no brainer' for Ballantyne
Hayden Ballantyne has extended his contract with the Fremantle Dockers
The born and bred West Australian said he was “stoked” to be with the club for another three years.
“I love the club, I love everything about it,” he said.
“I’m really happy that my family and I are staying here for another three years.
“This is my job, this is what I get paid to do and I’m very happy that the club has a lot of faith in me to be here for another three years to play some good football.”
The 26-year-old said there was so much to like about Fremantle that it made his decision to sign a very easy one.
“We have such a strong culture, we have great leaders, great coaches and it’s such a great club to be at,” he said.
“I love coming in to work every day and doing what we do.
“It’s a no brainer, I’m happy here.”
Another reason for Ballantyne was the Freo fans, who he had a message for.
“Thanks for sticking by not just me, but all the boys,” he said.
“It’s great to hear you when we’re playing at Patersons Stadium, we hope to get a lot more wins there this year.”
A Peel Thunder product, Ballantyne was selected by Fremantle in the 2008 National Draft after he had won the Sandover Medal as the best player in the WAFL that season.
He debuted in 2009 and has become one of the most dangerous small forwards in the game.
