Following the success of the inaugural 2013 year of the SEDA Fremantle Dockers Sports Development Program, 2014 saw the addition of two classes, with a total of 69 students completing Year 11 and 12.
Sports Education and Development Australia (SEDA) offers students an opportunity to complete Year 11 and 12 in an applied education setting in an industry they are passionate about.
2014 comprised many highlights for the students including involvement in the Live the Dream program, providing assistance at the Purple Playground on match days, Freo Fundamentals and various after school care programs.
Through their practical hands-on approach to education and assisting making footy accessible to all members of the community, SEDA students were able to reach over 10,000 community members through their involvement with Freo Fundamentals and raised just under $2000 for the Starlight Children's Foundation.
At the recent graduation evening, SEDA and the Fremantle Dockers farewelled 24 Program Two students who will seek various pathways in 2015, including university degrees and full-time employment.
Congratulations to the following Fremantle Dockers Sports Development students who received awards on the night: Jesse Tippet for Leadership; Kaitlen Orreal and Cameron Speight for Community Involvement and Braden Thompson for Endeavour.
Students receive their WACE Certification as well as nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications including Certificate II and III in Sport and Recreation.
