Dreamers walk in players shoes
For Nick Suban the Live the Dream program is something his 16-year-old self would have loved to be part of
“It would have been amazing to go to an AFL club for a week to see what the players do and have a chat,” Suban said.
“It’s good for the kids, they get to live the life of a footballer for a week.
“Being able to see what players do day-in, day-out is the best part of the Live the Dream program.”
The five-day long program comes to an end tomorrow and Suban said the main piece of advice he gave to his two participants was to not waste a moment.
“The biggest thing for me was just making sure the guys realised how great an opportunity they had,” he said.
“Other than footy advice, I told the guys to make sure they really took in the experience and learn as much as they could.
“The week will go so quickly for them and the experience will be finished before they know it.”
The 16 Live the Dream participants were formally introduced to the whole playing group on Tuesday morning before assisting them to conduct the School Holiday Program Super Clinic.
“They walked in our shoes today, so hopefully they’ve had a good day,” Suban said.
“Live the Dream is great for the kids but more than that it’s good for us players.
“We get to give back, and that’s something I really enjoy doing.”
