Nick Suban and Zac Clarke have been selected to replace the injured Chris Mayne and Greg Broughton for Sunday’s clash against Greater Western Sydney at Patersons Stadium.

Suban's run and hardness will test the young Giants, who have lost consecutive games by 161 and 119 points, while Clarke’s height will stretch Kevin Sheedy’s defenders.

Freo will go into the game with talls Jon Griffin, Kepler Bradley and Clarke. While Griffin will ruck, it remained to be seen how the other two will be used between the ruck and up forward.

Suban has played seven matches this season and will be keen to impress after being in and out of the side in 2012.

Clarke could replace Mayne in attack to keep Freo’s forward structure intact.

“Zac's been a part of that contingent all year,” senior coach Ross Lyon said.

“He's a young player that's played 12 out of 15 games for us. He's been a pretty solid contributor for us.”

Clarke will play despite a below par showing in the WAFL last weekend, which Lyon said didn’t come fully into account at the selection table.

“Sometimes you look at it in totality rather than in isolation of the one week,” he said.

“It is difficult to go back to WAFL. They play a different game style, different positions, different teammates.

“It's pretty hard to be in the groove when you change all the time, so we always take that into consideration as well.”

The emergencies for the match will be Jay van Berlo, Jesse Crichton and Peter Faulks.
