Tomorrow night’s AFLW Fairest and Best promises to be another fantastic addition to Fremantle’s events calendar, taking place at Ambrose Estate in Wembley Downs.

The awarding of Fremantle’s first female club champion highlights the evening, with the Players’ and Best Clubwoman Awards rounding out the celebration of the inaugural AFL Women’s season.

Voting for the Fairest and Best Award takes place throughout the season, with four coaches allocating between zero and five votes for each player.

Below are some of the contenders to look out for.

Lara Filocamo
Already recognised for her outstanding season with a fourth placed finish at the AFL Best and Fairest, Filocamo was one of Fremantle’s strongest and most consistent performers in 2017. Filocamo ranked in the top three in disposals, clearances and inside 50s and was instrumental as Fremantle earned their first points of the season in a draw with Greater Western Sydney in round three.

Kara Donnellan
Fremantle’s inaugural captain, Donnellan led by example as the general of the midfield. Donnellan was not just dangerous in the clinches but up front as well, highlighted by picking up 24 disposals, eight tackles and two goals in a game winning performance over Carlton in round six. At season’s end, Donnellan was named in the midfield in the 2017 Virgin Australia AFL Women’s All-Australian side.

Dana Hooker
Hooker led the side in many key statistics, including disposals, kicks and marks, and was second in inside 50s. Whether the team was up or down, she always put in her best efforts, collecting 20 or more disposals on three occasions, including 21 in round seven against Melbourne.

Ebony Antonio
Shortlisted in the All Australian squad of 40, Antonio played a crucial role at both ends of the ground and showed impressive tackling pressure and strong marking ability. Antonio proved dangerous in the forwardline, highlighted by her crucial early goal against Melbourne.

Gabby O’Sullivan
A versatile and determined performer, O’Sullivan always gave her all and applied constant pressure on the opposition with the equal second most tackles for the season and was one of Freo’s best in the draw with Greater Western Sydney.
