Club legend Matthew Pavlich has praised Fremantle’s AFLW team for completely embracing what he thinks it means to be a Fremantle Docker.
A captain of the club for nine years, Pavlich has long spoken about having passion for the jumper.
In a live interview on the Fremantle Dockers Instagram page, he said it was clear Freo’s AFLW team embraced that club culture on the way to an unbeaten season in 2020.
“I was so devastated for them when this coronavirus issue popped up and the season was cancelled,” Pavlich said.
“They were on fire this year. I think they’re obviously a well-gelled group and you can see they have passion for each other in the way they play.
“They were able to win those narrow games and get over the line.
“I took the kids down to Fremantle Oval against Collingwood, they loved it.
“It has that carnival feel which was great to see and I commentated a game as well, and it was great to be involved.”
When asked about his favourite AFLW player, Pavlich said he couldn’t go past a fellow Fremantle forward.
“My favourite players are Gemma Houghton, I love watching her up forward,” Pavlich said.
“Kiara Bowers is an absolute animal in the way she approaches her footy, she’s an absolute gun.
“Kara and Ebony Antonio, the way they’ve been there since the foundation of the team, you can see how much they care for the group.
“I like Gabby O’Sullivan as well, she’s a very crafty half forward and Sabreena Duffy as well. I love watching them play.”
