Roxy Roux has been recalled for the NAB AFL Women’s finals series, with the talented forward named in the team to face Gold Coast in a semi final on Saturday at Fremantle Oval.
Roux was rested for last week’s clash with the Western Bulldogs and will be raring to go as Freo play their first ever AFLW game against Gold Coast and first finals game in WA.
She replaces fellow draftee Sarah Garstone, who made her debut against the Bulldogs.
A versatile forward/ruck, Roux has been named at centre half forward.
She is part of a star-studded forward line that includes Ebony Antonio, Gemma Houghton, Gabby O’Sullivan and Sabreena Duffy, who leads Freo with nine goals this season.
Tackling machine Kiara Bowers headlines Fremantle’s midfield, working with ruck Mim Strom and fellow mids Hayley Miller and Katie-Jayne Grieve.
Captain Kara Anotnio will again play on the wing alongside the speedy Ashley Sharp.
The return of Roux means Laura Pugh will return to the backline after switching forward in the past fortnight. Evie Gooch, Philipa Seth, Emma O’Driscoll and Leah Mascall join her down back.
Defender Ange Stannett, forward Kate Flood, the versatile Mia-Rae Clifford and midfielders Jasmin Stewart and Bianca Webb will start on the interchange.
Due to the emerging Covid-19 crisis, no spectators will be permitted to attend the game.
Bouncedown for the clash is at 1.40pm and can be watched live on 7TWO or streamed live on the AFLW official app.
If you’re watching from home, make sure you get involved with DockerBox. This week we are asking all Freo fans to get involved and submit their entries to be a part of our new online show.
