Fremantle skipper Kara Antonio is excited to play her first final in purple as her undefeated side take on the Gold Coast Suns this Saturday in an elimination final at Fremantle Oval.
The fixtures for the 2020 NAB AFLW final series were announced on Thursday morning, following Wednesday’s announcement that the home and away season would end and the top four sides from each conference would play off in a three-week finals series.
Antonio missed Fremantle’s historic AFLW finals debut last year against Carlton due to knee soreness and is not taking this weekend lightly, as they take on the fourth placed Suns from Conference A.

“We’re not underestimating the Gold Coast Suns,” Antonio said.
“They’re a young team, they’ve got absolutely nothing to lose and we know that they will bring that on Saturday.
“Obviously, I missed out on our first final last year and I’m pumped and ready to lead the girls out this weekend.”
The midfielder believes that this finals series will be one to watch as each team has not played the other this season.
However, the wounds from last year’s preliminary final against Carlton has better prepared the group for what to expect come Saturday afternoon.
“It’s going to be a really exciting final series and we know as a club that finals series are completely different to home and away.
“Ladder positions and past games go out the window and it’s anyone’s game.
“It’s whoever rocks up on the day, whoever wants it more and whoever hits the scoreboard and makes the most of their opportunities.”
Final teams will be announced at 3pm WST and bouncedown is at 1.40pm WST and you can watch the game live via the AFL Women’s app or on free-to-air (Channel 7).
