As part of Homelessness Week, we asked Freo fans to help share the warmth at our round 20 clash with West Coast on Sunday 7 August at Domian Stadium.
Fans were encouraged to bring along spare winter warmers that club charity partner, Manna, could share with those less fortunate in Perth.
Manna is a compassionate charitable organisation providing hope and dignity to the hungry, lonely and underprivileged.
The club received the letter of thanks below from Sarah Ryder, volunteer coordinator at Manna:
Thank you so much for the opportunity to collect items for the homeless on Sunday afternoon before the Carlton Draught Derby.
Our volunteers had a great time and were thrilled to have some of the players come and join us for the collection.
It's always great to have Manna ambassador Jon Griffin involved. Jon’s passion for the helping the homeless of Perth is inspirational.
We were overwhelmed by donations, so much so, we had to load everything into our newest transit van with a high roof. The donations were stacked to the roof!
There were well over 7,150 litres worth of donations. This can then be broken down to more than 30 household wheelie bins full of donations.
Many Freo fans brought in new items that still had their tags attached.
Donations have already started filtering out to the park this afternoon.
Thank you once again for this opportunity. We really appreciate it and know that our "streeties" will also be grateful for the warmth which Freo fans and members have shared.
The Fremantle Dockers Foundation is proud to have the Manna on board as a Principal 'Friend of the Foundation'.
