Former Fremantle ruckman Simon Eastaugh is to join the club’s coaching team, with his core responsibilities to include coaching and mentoring the developing and senior ruckmen on Freo’s list.

Eastaugh played 17 games for Essendon from 1998 to 2000, before joining Fremantle for the 2001 season, where he played 12 games in two seasons.

He returned to the club in a coaching capacity in November 2002, and was ruck coach for season 2003 through to the end of season 2005.

Eastaugh coached WAFL club Perth in 2006 and 2007 and later held the position of WA recruiting manager at Port Adelaide. He was appointed ruck coach at the West Coast Eagles at the end of the 2009 season.

The 40-year-old is due to start the full time position at Fremantle on 1 November.
