Arriving in Perth this Sunday afternoon will be the first time Tom North has visited his new home state.
North, who was selected by Freo with pick 65 in Friday’s NAB AFL Draft lives in Melbourne and said he was in ‘shock’ after realising he would be on an AFL list in 2018.
“I’m just shocked right now, I am so happy and excited,” North said.
“I was watching the draft at home with my family and my girlfriend and I had no idea if I’d go.
“It was great to hear my name called out.”
North been working as a carpentry assistant for the past year while playing for the Eastern Rangers and said he was looking forward to learning from Freo’s leaders.
“I’m obviously looking forward to meeting Nat Fyfe and Lachie Neale and learning as much as I can from them.”
“I’ve also heard there’s pretty nice weather in Perth and I love the beach, so I’m looking forward to getting over and getting stuck into it.
