Fremantle Dockers’ foundation member and former Macquarie Bank senior executive director Craig Carter has been appointed to the club’s board of directors.
The former executive director of Macquarie Capital Advisers is due to commence his three-year term on 1 December.
Carter, who is also a foundation member of one of the club’s key business groups – the AJ Diamond Club – grew up in Fremantle and attended South Fremantle High School before completing a Bachelor of Business degree.
Recently retired from Macquarie after a 35-year career in investment banking and stockbroking, Carter has diverse business interests, is a keen offshore sailor and also sits on the board of Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club.
Fremantle president Steve Harris said the club was fortunate to have such a highly regarded person joining the board.
“As a foundation member of the Fremantle Dockers there is no doubting Craig’s long-term commitment to the club,” Harris said.
“When you combine that with Craig’s renowned financial acumen and relationship building skills, we are very fortunate to have a board appointee of such high calibre.”
Carter described his appointment as an honour and a privilege.
“Having a strong Fremantle connection as well as being a foundation member of the Fremantle Dockers it is an honour and a privilege to be appointed to the club’s board of directors,” Carter said.
“It is a really dynamic time for Fremantle both on and off the field and I am firmly committed to helping the board and executive team achieve their aim of evolving from a good club to a great club.”
