Star midfielder Nat Fyfe says it was pleasing Fremantle could ground out a hard fought win over the Bulldogs on Sunday at Etihad Stadium.
Freo won by 13-points but scores were equal with just a few minutes to go, after the Bulldogs dominated the second half.
Fyfe helped seal the game with his third goal late in the final term before Matthew Pavlich kicked his fifth in the final minute to secure a nail biting win.
He told Fox Footy it was a hard win.
“I thought to ground it out and come away with a win was exceptional,” he said.
Fyfe had 30 touches in a dominant display.
He was quick to pay credit to a brave Bulldogs team that took the game to the ladder leader.
“They really came to play and full credit to them,” he said.
“We knew it would be hot in the kitchen early…and got it into Pav, who got a few early ones.”
