Fremantle skipper Matthew Pavlich still does not know whether the 2015 finals series will be his last.
Pavlich, 33, is not contracted for 2016 after signing a one-year deal to play on this season.
The six-time All Australian was expected to be carefully managed this year but he has ended up playing 20 of a possible 22 games and is leading the club's goalkicking with 39.
Pavlich missed round 21 due to some Achilles soreness. He played in round 22 and was rested last week along with a large group of senior players.
Pavlich said he has no idea if this will be his last tilt at a premiership.
Most wonderful time of the year
"I can't answer that, I don't know," Pavlich said on Monday.
"Once the season is finished I'll get some time away and have a think about that and obviously have a chat to Ross (Lyon) about what that means for next year."
Pavlich is already working on his autobiography but said that is not an indicator he is going to retire at the end of the season.
"Pardon the pun, no you shouldn't read anything into that," Pavlich said.
"I was having a discussion with the publisher only last week about the timing of it and how people will raise a few eyebrows on the back of that.
"Chris Judd was a great reminder to me earlier this year when he went out there against Adelaide and hurt himself … I've never taken this game for granted. It's always a privilege to run out there and it can end in an instant.
"So I've entered probably the last few seasons thinking, ‘Who knows?’ Given where my body is at and the travel and all those things that are associated with being a West Australian-based player.

"You just never know where this game is going to take you."
Pavlich said his body was in good shape heading into the qualifying final against the Sydney Swans on Saturday.
"The Achilles' are actually pretty good, it's just some structures around there that get a bit sore," Pavlich said.
"They've been fantastic really since the surgery, both at the end of 2012 and throughout 2013. But just on the back of a few little incidents in some other areas of the body, around that St Kilda and Derby time (round 19 and 20), I just had some issues.
"They get a bit sore but the last couple of weeks have remedied that and I'll feel pretty good for the weekend."
