Sunny skies were the perfect setting for up to 200 young participants who went along to Domain Stadium on Sunday 2 August, to take part in the grand finals of Freo Long Bomb, Freo Kwik Kick and Freo Fastball.
The three competitions, which are run for years four to six in primary schools all over Western Australia, were held as the curtain raiser prior to the round 18 Fremantle vs GWS fixture.
Freo Kwik Kick involves students kicking in pairs over a short distance to see how many successful kicks they can complete in three minutes.
Freo Fast Ball is an exciting team handballing event. The competition involves a team of six student’s handballing a football through the zig-zag formation as quickly as possible.
Freo Long Bomb simply involves students trying to kick a football as far as they can.
While not all participants were lucky enough to walk away with a trophy or medal, the chance to run around at the home of WA football prior to a Fremantle Dockers’ home game was a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The club would like to recognise the support received by teachers and principals around the State in supporting the day’s events. The success of the day would not have been possible without their assistance.
