Fremantle general manager of football Chris Bond says Nat Fyfe’s injury will open the door for a debutant or a mature player to play the Giants on Sunday.
Bond told 6PR on Wednesday that it was a possible a young player could debut this week, with the match committee to meet on Thursday.
Draftees Lachie Weller, Connor Blakely and Ed Langdon are in the mix but so are experienced players Paul Duffield, Tendai Mzungu and Zac Dawson, who have spent time with Peel Thunder.
“Lachie Weller has been an emergency, Connor Blakely has had a terrific year and Ed Langdon has really developed,” he said.
“There are the mature players who have gone down and had some really good form.
“We have some options but there is a chance of it (debutant).”
Bond said Peel’s fixture had allowed senior coach Ross Lyon to watch plenty of the WAFL club’s games this season.
“The benefit of the draw with Peel as well is that Ross has been able to get down there a bit and watch,” he said.
“We’ve got to see them a fair few times.”
Fremantle’s TABtouch 22 squad will be announced on Thursday afternoon.
