Nat Fyfe says he is carrying an injury just like most AFL players do at some point.
Fyfe said a cork in his quad he received from Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell in Round 15 at Aurora Stadium was still causing him some discomfort.
Mitchell received a fine over the incident, which left Fyfe hobbling for the remainder of that match.
The two-time Doig Medallist has had the thigh strapped for the past two weeks.
“The cork has lingered a little bit,” he told Channel 7's Game Day on Sunday.
“Most players at this stage of the season are carrying some kind of soreness…that’s just the AFL.”
Fyfe said he was an advocate for a second bye towards the end of the season to allow plays to physically and mentally recover before the finals.
“It’s been a long year, it’d be nice to have a second bye this time of the year,” he said.
“The injuries start to stack up.
“It’s good to mentally get away and physically rest up.”
