The biggest roar on Sunday evening at Domain Stadium was reserved for debutant Lachie Weller’s first touch in the final term.

Weller was subbed into the game a minute into the final quarter and within seconds had his first touch on the wing.

It was greeted by a rapturous roar from the home crowd.

“It’s great to have the home crowd by your side and it felt really good,” he said.

Weller was Fremantle’s top selection in last year’s National Draft at pick 14.

He said the intensity was unlike anything he had experienced.

“It was really good, it was everything you expect,” he said.

“It’s another notch quicker than the level I’ve been at.

“I really enjoyed it and had some fun out there.”

Weller admitted it was an anxious wait on the bench until the third term.

“I tried to stay as relaxed as I could,” he said.

“It’s your first game, you’re going to be nervous.

“I got a fair bit of advice from the boys, who have been sub before, (they said) try to keep calm, but it is a bit hard to.”
