Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon says Ryan Crowley has done all he can to be named for Friday’s Preliminary Final but he remains an unlikely chance.
Crowley was suspended for 12 months, back dated to September this year, after he tested positive in season 2014 to a specified substance under the AFL’s Anti-Doping Code.
This week is the first time he is eligible for selection.
Crowley is among the best taggers in the competition and has a particularly good record against Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell, including restricting him to just 12 touches in the 2013 Grand Final.
Lyon said Crowley would be considered but there were plenty of decisions still to make.
“We’ll have a look at it, we have a whole week to get through,” he said on Monday.
“He is a chance…it’s an unlikely chance.”
Crowley has not played since last year’s finals series but has been able to train at the club for the past two months.
“Ryan will tell you he is ready and right to do the job,” Lyon said.
“We’ve had a few injuries, does that open it up? Possibly.
“Run wouldn’t be an issue for Ryan, it would just be his touch.
“It’d be a tough ask.
“He certainly couldn’t have done anymore.”
