Fremantle senior coach Ross Lyon thinks the AFL ladder is finally taking shape after several upsets in the first eight rounds.
Lyon told 6PR Sports Today on Monday he expected it would be tough for teams outside the eight to fight their way in.
“You’d want to get moving, if you want to start getting into the eight,” he said.
“I think the teams in it are all going pretty strong.”
Lyon said not many pundits would have picked the current ladder.
Match Preview: Fremantle v Adelaide.
Greater Western Sydney and West Coast have surprised the tipsters, while Premiers Hawthorn only sit inside the eight on percentage.
“If you go back to pre-season, ladder predictions are a fair way wrong,” Lyon said.
“Eight games in is a pretty good indicator.
“There is a new dynamic with a few teams.”
Fremantle sit on the top of the ladder undefeated so far this year, but Lyon said that could easily change
“Put your head down, work hard and see where it takes you (is the message),” he said.
