Matthew Pavlich’s decision to play on in 2016 will be invaluable for the club’s new recruits, says Hayden Ballantyne.
The 33-year-old announced in October he would play his 17th season of AFL in 2016.
Ballantyne said Pavlich set a great example for the playing group and would offer the club’s draftees an insight into what it means to forge a career in the AFL.
“Getting that leadership and professionalism from Pav, learning what it means to be a true professional, that is something they’ll benefit from,” he said.
Ballantyne, who has played alongside Pavlich in the forward line for his whole career, said he continued to learn from the club games record holder.
“In seven years under Pav, I’ve learned a lot from him and I am still learning from him,” he said.
“I’m wrapped he’s here for another year.
“I’m wrapped the young guys will get a year with an elite player like Pav.”
