Alex Silvagni has put his name into the hat for selection this week after a solid training session.
The tall defender has not played a game this year due to a hamstring injury but was back training with the main group on Thursday in warm conditions.
HBF Injury Update
Tommy Sheridan, also recovering from a hamstring injury, trained promisingly.
Small forward Michael Walters (ankle) completed short running exercises away from the main group before running laps with Michael Apeness (concussion).
Walters is expected to be available for selection, while Apeness will not line up for Peel this week.
Key players Luke McPharlin, Stephen Hill and Zac Clarke were among a small group that trained in the gym.
Freo head into Saturday’s 20th annual Len Hall Tribute Match against Sydney with several selection dilemmas.
Senior coach Ross Lyon said Freo would not automatically pick the same 22 because of a win last week against West Coast.
“You need to look at the balance of the team,” he said.
“As one player said to me, ‘I don’t envy you being the coach when there is competition’.”
Sydney coach John Longmire confirmed on Wednesday that dual Brownlow Medallist Adam Goodes would not make the trip to Perth but would play reserves for the second week in a row.
Swans defender Nick Smith is expected to be available for the match, while young forward Isaac Henney will also be fit and available after coming off late against the Giants.
